OS Reports

TR’s OS Reports tell you about the different operating systems your visitors are using.

The reports display the most popular Agents, URLs, primary and secondary domains for each operating system.

Which operating systems are reported upon? The same ones that appear in the Record OSpanel in the Preferences window. See the Creating Report Categories section for information on setting up your own OScategories.

Agents by OS

This report tells you which browsers are the most popular among the OScategories you’ve set up. For instance, you can see which browsers are favored by your Macintosh visitors.

For TR to produce this report, your log entries need to contain an Agent and Result field.

URLs by OS

This report tells you which web site resources are the most popular among the OScategories you’ve set up. Sometimes this can be helpful information to have when selling ad space at your web site, since you can provide a breakdown of the visits to a particular page by os.

To produce this report, your log entries need to contain Agent, Result and URL fields.

Primary Domains by OS

This shows you which countries requested the most files from your web site. It is broken down by the OScategories you’ve set up. Want to see which operating system the Lao People’s Democratic Republic prefers? This report can tell you.

To produce this report, your log entries need to contain the Agent and Hostname fields. The Hostnames need to be in the DNS format. See the DNS Look-ups section for more information.

Secondary Domains by OS

This shows you the top secondary domains in requesting files from your web site. It is broken down by the OScategories you’ve set up. Secondaries are useful for identifying companies and other organizations.

To produce this report, your log entries need to contain the Agent and Hostname fields. The Hostnames need to be in the DNS format. See the DNS Look-ups section for more information.
